History of Maheshwari samaj, Jaipur
The 'Maheshwari Samaj' has its own special place in various societies of the city of Jaipur. Shri Maheshwari Samaj, Jaipur, not only from the state of Rajasthan, but also from its various dimensions of service keeps a separate place in Maheshwari and other ethnic organizations.
Shri Maheshwari Samaj, Jaipur was formed on Paush Shukla 10 Samvat 1982 with a view to improving the mental, physical and economic condition of the youth of the society and to remove the evil practices prevailing in the society. Hence the society was duly inaugurated Magha Shukla 7 (Surya Saptami) In 1925 By Seth Sri Govind Narayan Ji Somani (Babbu Seth) at Vidyadhar Ka Rasta, Jaipur.
Also a night school was set up for 3 months, in this school Shri Shyam Sundar ji Kabra, Shri Balchand ji Kacholia, Shri Shivshankar Ji Jhanwar volunteered to take charge.
After that the library, gymnasium was established. Along with the system of teaching handicrafts, other service works were also done. On February 28, 1944, an old house was rented at Singhi ji a Rasta to facilitate the activities of the society. The foundation of the building for reconstruction is done by Seth Shri Badrinarayan ji on 11 July 1945.
The building was completed in 1946. Presently this building has three floors. The land behind this building was purchased from the orphanage in 1968-69 by Shree Ganesanarayan Ji Ajmera and he donated this land to Samaj. A three-storey building is being constructed on this land and is being used as an 'annex' of the main building.
In 1932, the first festival of Mahesh Navami was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Mahesh Bhagwan's Shobha-Yatra was taken out for the first time in 1948. New dimensions of social, cultural, educational, medical were established in the society. Annual celebrations (Surya Saptami), Holi - Milan Samaroh, Mahesh Navami Festival, Deepavali Sneha Milan, Goth and Mahesh Mela, Introductory Conference and mass wedding are being organized with great enthusiasm.
This First Office of Shri Maheshwari samaj, Jaipur was remodeled with morden amenities again in 2017 in the tenure of Shri Satya Narayan Kabra (MN). Samaj has build its own office at 3rd floor of MPS international school at tilak nagar.
The operation of Shri Maheshwari Samaj, Jaipur is done by the executives, elected by the members of the society. The society has its own legislation, which in 1960 was Raj. Registration was done under the Institution Registration Act 1958. Its registration number is 60 / 1960-61. According to the legislation, among the Executive Committee members, 1 elected president is 72 selected 8 co-workers and 2 ex-officio members, who are elected every three years.
Right now The population of the society in Jaipur is more than 35 thousand. There are around 5500 families. The society has 9 schools, a college, a hostel, besides 9 community centers, an old age home, a hospital and 2 diagnostic centers.
